The universe is but an egg.... (Adapted and modified :-) )

You were on your way home when you died.

It was a car accident.  Nothing particularly spectacular, but fatal nonetheless.  You left behind a family, two kids and a wife.  It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was utterly shattered.  You are better of dead, trust me.
And that's when you met me.

"What...what happened?" you asked. "Where am i?"

"You died" I said matter-of-factly.  No point in mincing words now.

"There was a truck...I was skidding..."

"Yep"

"I died....I...I...I Died?"

"Yup, but don't feel bad about it, Everyone dies" I said.
You looked around, there was nothingness. Just you and me. "What is this place?" you asked.  "Is this the after life?"

"More or less" I said.

"Are you god?" you asked.
"Yup" I replied "i am god"

"My Kids...My Wife..." You stammered...

"What about them?"

"Will they be alright?"
"That's what i like to see" I said "You just died and your main concern is your family.  That is good stuff right there."

You looked at me with fascination.  To you, i did not appear to be a god.  I just looked like some man.  or possibly a woman.  Some vague authority figure maybe.  More of that high school math teacher you feared so much.
"Don't Worry" I said "They will be fine.  Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way.  They didn't have the time to grow any contempt for you.  Your wife will cry on the outside, but will secretly be relieved.  To be fair, your marriage was falling apart.  If it's any consolation, she will feel very guilty for feeling relieved"
"Oh. So what happens now?  Do i go to heaven or hell or something?" you asked

"Neither" I said "You will be reincarnated"

"Ah" you said "so the hindus were correct!"
"All religions were right in their own way" I said "Walk with me"

You followed along as we strode through the void. "Where are we going?"

"Nowhere in particular" I said "It's just nice to walk while we talk"
"So, what's the point then?" you asked, "When i get reborn, ill just be a blank slate, right?  A baby.  So all my experiences in this lifetime will not matter"

"Not so!" I said. "You have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives. You just don't remember them right now."

I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders.
"Your soul is more magnificent, beautiful, and gigantic than you can possible imagine.  A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are.  It's like sticking you finger in a glass of water to see if it's hot or cold. You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, you've gained all the experiences it had."

"You've been in a human form the last 48 years, so you haven't' stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness.  If we hung out here for long enough, you'd start remembering everything.  But there's no point in doing that between each life."

"How many times have I been re incarnated then?"

"Oh. Lots ad lots. And in lots of different lives." I said. "This time around, you'll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 AD."

"Wait...what!??" you stammered. "You're sending me back in time?"

"Well, I guess technically.  Time as you know it only exists within your universe.  Thins are different where i come from."

"Where you come from?" You questioned.

"Oh, sure" I explained.  "I come from somewhere, somewhere else. And there are others like me.  I know you'll want to know what it's like there, but honestly you wouldn't understand."

"Oh...." you said, a little let down.  "But wait. If i get reincarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point."

"Sure.  Happens all the time.  And with both lives only aware of their lifespan you dont' even know it's happening."

"So what's the point of it all?"

"Seriously?" I asked. "Seriously? You're asking me for the meaning of life?  Isn't that a little stereotypical?"

"Well, it's a reasonable question." you persisted.

I looked you in the eye. "The meaning of life, the reason i made this whole universe, is for you to mature."

"You mean mankind? You want us to mature?"

"No. Just you.  I made this whole universe for you.  With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect."

"Just me? What about everyone else?"

"There is no one else," I said. "In this universe, there's just you and me."

You stared blankly at me. "But all the people on earth..."

"All you. Different incarnations of you."

"Wait. I'm everyone?"

"Now you're getting it." I said, with a congratulatory slap on your back.

"I'm ever human being who ever lived?"

"Or who will ever live, yes."

"I'm Hitler?" You said, appalled.

"And you're the millions he killed."

"I'm Jesus?"

"And you're everyone who followed him."

You fell silent.

"Every time you victimized someone," I said, "you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you've done, you've done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you."

You thought for a long time.

"Why?" you asked me, "Why do all this?"

"Because someday, you will become like me.  Because that's what you are. You're one of my kind. You're my child."

"Whoa!!" you said, incredulous.  "You mean I'm a god?"

"No. Not yet. You're a fetus. You're still growing.  Once you've lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enough to be born."

"So the whole universe," you said, "it's just...."

"An egg." I answered.  "Now it's time for you to move onto your next life."

And I sent you on your way....

Haphazard Thoughts (A Mixture of Original and Borrowed tit bits of wisdom) - Part 1

  • Good Relationships just don't happen.  They take time, patience and 2 people who really want to be together
  • Be confident. Too many days are wasted comparing ourselves to others and wishing to be something we aren't.  Everybody has their own strength and weaknesses, and it is only when you accept everything you are and aren't that you will truly succeed.
  • We are all in the same game, just different levels.  We are all in the same hell, just different devils!!
  • Morality is doing what is right regardless of what you are told.  Religion is doing what you are told regardless of what is right.
  • The universe is a program, and we are all just sub routines.
  • "I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason."
    - from Hugo (2011)
  • Love is like handing someone a loaded gun, pointed at your head, believing that they won't pull the trigger.
  • Real Eyes, Realize, Real Lies.
  • God doesn't make the world this way. We do.
  • If god made us in his image, why aren't we invisible too.

Sunscreen...A Forwarded Email I thought I'd share....

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be
it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering
experience…I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you
imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm
on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you
Sing
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with
people who are reckless with yours.
Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes
you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with
yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you
succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your
life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year
olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe
you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky
chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body,
use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
own..
Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for
good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you
should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and
lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you
knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live
in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will
philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one
might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will
look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
ugly parts and recycling it for more than
it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen…

The truth is incontrovertible

The human mind is finite in complexity.

When we moved beyond our bodies into perfect machine, we kept emotions as beloved heirlooms.  But emotions produced danger.  So, one by one they were outlawed and removed from our minds.  The wheel of logic was perfectly circular.  But the wheel found itself rolling down an incline.  Without emotion, "why?' lost its sting of relevance.  Without "why?' being and existing ceased to be different.  Within a few generations, almost nobody remained.  We did leave behind a monument.  But since no poets remained, we kept the epitaph brief. "here lies humanity, do not resuscitate"

In life we do things, some we wish we had never done.  Some we wish we could replay a million times in our heads.  But they all make us who we are, and in the end they shape every detail about us.  If we were to reverse any of them we wouldn't be the person we are.  So just live, make mistakes, make wonderful memories.  But never second guess who you are, where you have been, and most importantly where it is you are going.

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.

MEDIOCRITY PLUS QUANTITY EQUALS == SUCCESS!!!!

I’m convinced that people crave massive amounts of mediocrity. If given the choice between “a lot of average” or “a little of great”, they will choose the former every single time. This explains why “Two and a Half Men” is a TV juggernaut and “30 Rock” is barely staying afloat. People always feel cheated if they get too little of anything. You could give someone a small, steaming bowl of diarrhea mixed with vomit and they’ll complain, “What the fuck?! Why the small bowl?”

Original Sin

What is the nature of the guilt that your teachers call his Original Sin?

What are the evils man acquired when he fell from a state they consider perfection?

Their myth declares that he ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge — he acquired a mind and became a rational being.
It was the knowledge of good and evil — he became a moral being.
He was sentenced to earn his bread by his labor — he became a productive being.
He was sentenced to experience desire — he acquired the capacity of sexual enjoyment.

The evils for which they damn him are reason, morality, creativeness, joy — all the cardinal values of his existence.

It is not his vices that their myth of man’s fall is designed to explain and condemn, it is not his errors they they hold as his guilt, but the essence of his nature as man. Whatever he was — that robot, in the Garden of Eden, who existed without mind, without values, without labor, without love — he was not man…

Religion

Religion is like a classroom where the students have to show up everyday, but the teacher is not there.  There are multiple books lying around and each student claims one book to be the correct one.  Some argue hard for one book and its theorems and others for another one.  Finally on the last day the teacher walks in and informs the class that he has been watching them the entire time. He praises the ones who have chosen the correct book and lets them have fun, while the others....he burns!

Possibility....

There are some statements that make no sense to you when you hear/read it for the first time.  They sometimes appear real stupid.  One such statement that made no sense to me when I read it for the first time was "To be awake is to be alive" - Henry Thoreau.  I remember reading this and another quote "If there is one thing physics taught us, it is to always take the path of least resistance" in my dad's college notes.  At that time I just discarded the thought as another piece of psycho bauble by dad.  8 years later as I am struggling to my find my footing and my heading in life these words seem to make a lot more sense.  To find the answer to this,  we need to see what Henry T ISN'T saying, that is, to not be awake - is to be dead.  This could lead to a million conclusions. For one,  to be asleep is to be wasting time.  That would be the easiest definition.  Or, to go through life unaware of the greater picture is to be as good as dead, and to never have lived life at all. It's a subjective statement, and the definitions change as you divulge deeper into yourself.

So as I was searching for more meaning to this small, yet profound statement, I came across this short piece that I thought would be best shared than enjoyed alone. Read it and if it causes a little stir deep down somewhere, SHARE IT!! :) After all,  There is no delight in owning anything unshared.

Sleep light, Because life always tip toes.  And unless you are paying attention..it can leave you in the dust.. before you can even open your eyes.  So wake up and find your way.  Because luck isn't a compass.  It will never tell you which road to take..how many miles before you reach home. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.  And opportunity is all around us.  It's easy.  You're ready.  Find the beauty in simple things.  Maybe things you thought you left behind.  Because nobody ever had the time of their lives watching the clock or picking their moment. Success has everything to do with the content of your mind. So don't ever stop learning and you will never be let down.  You will not be defined by your station..You will be defined by how you got there.. The memories you made and the memories you shared. So sleep light and be prepared to face anything that life hurls at you with open eyes and an open mind and control set for what lies beyond the horizon. Just remember, new scenery, new adventures, new people.  They all meant the same thing, you are doing something right.  Because tucked into every moment of every second of every day is the greatest thing imaginable.  Possibility.

Revival Time!...I.AM.BACK!

I know I haven't updated my blog in ages... No specific reason, but was too stuck up in the mediocrity that is my life....and then realized, that out in the real world things may have ups and downs, irritations and happy moment, none of which I can control.  But here...this is my little piece of cyberspace, a place where I can let my imagination roll free, be myself and make things go my way.  Also, i can say what i want since no one seems to be reading this stuff anyway, what with all the awesome bloggers on the internet now.

So, I decided, I am going to revive this cyber field of mine and sow some of my brain seeds to see what grows.

As I try to write something now, I realize,  One does not SIMPLY TYPE OUT A BLOG PAGE.
The paragraphs are guarded by more than just CAPITAL LETTERS and careful punctuation.  There is evil that does not sleep, and the grammar Nazi is ever watchful.  It turns your mind into a barren wasteland, more wasteful than it already is, riddled with metaphors and allusions, the very words you have just typed out, when read, turn out to be a confused jumble of $h!t!!!  Not with ten thousand likes and inspired men could I, as one man, do this.  It is folly....

(Inspired from one of the most classical statements ever made in one of the greatest myth inspired classics ever written , before twilight ruined myth inspired stories for all of us!)

Oh, and by the way, I also got married during this hiatus, to my college sweetheart....Life.is.BE-A-U-TIFUL....(Fingers crossed) :)

LOT MORE TO COME......
